August nonfarm payrolls surged 162,000, nearly triple estimates, while unemployment held at 4.1%. Does this cement a September rate hike?

August nonfarm payrolls surged by 162,000, nearly triple the 53,000-56,000 consensus estimate and the strongest monthly gain since March, while unemployment held steady at 4.1%, adding fuel to the case for a Federal Reserve rate hike at its September meeting. Does this jobs report cement a September rate hike? Vote and explain your reasoning in the comments.

The Iranians are targeting refiners, energy inflation will be sustained and elevate further inevitably becoming embedded into everything. These corporations can only shield consumers for so long. I’m thinking we get a hike, but I also think it’s a dumb reason to raise rates. Bottom line this war has to end. The Iranians are hitting refiners because we’ve been able to mitigate the transportation issue to q tolerable level but they want us to feel pain so now they are attacking refiners, which is much worse.

Warsh will not be punked into raising rates just to hurt Trump and GOP before midterms. If we were ECB we’d be cutting rates and inflation would be under 2%. Warsh knows Phillips Curve was DISPROVEN 40 YEARS ago. If anything Cut rates to flood Supply of housing, lower costs, inflation data and begin the Virtuous Cycle.

not even having the option of lowering the rates makes this poll strongly politically motivated. High rates and high diesel are fueling inflation. Rates need to come down.

Trump fired Powell because he wouldn't lower rates. Warsh was selected by Trump to force rates towards zero. Trump wanted negative rates to boost the economy in 2020. High inflation boost real estate and assets, wealthy people want this.
