$AMP BofA double downgraded Ameriprise to Underperform from Buy on Monday, target cut to 445 dollars from 570. Five large advisor teams left from May to September, about 12.75 billion dollars in client assets combined, Rise alone was 8.1 billion. BofA thinks the departures may be structural now, RIA ownership economics are pulling teams out, and it cut 2026 to 2028 EPS estimates on slower organic growth and higher retention costs. Shares fell 4.07% Monday to 480.41 dollars. BofA models organic growth at just 1.6% next year, vs 8.1% at LPL Financial and 5.3% at Raymond James.

$AMP Price: $497.57 Volume: Average or below Catalyst: Recent strength tied to optimism around Ameriprise's wealth management AUM growth and solid quarterly earnings beat. Resistance: $510 Support: $480 Bull case: A move through $510 on rising volume could open the door toward fresh all-time highs. Bear case: Rejection near resistance with light volume may signal exhaustion, dragging price back toward $480 support. What I'm watching: Looking for a volume pickup to confirm direction before committing either way. $AMP Ameriprise’s board authorized another $5.5B in buybacks Tuesday, running through September 2028. The scale is the story. $5.5B is about 12% of the ~$44.0B market cap. With the ~$1.1B still unused from last year’s authorization, total firepower is ~$6.6B, roughly 15% of the company. The tape barely moved. The stock is roughly 7% below where it closed nine days ago, and it was flat on the news. At Ameriprise, buybacks are a standing feature, not an event. The authorization replaces capacity more than it signals intent.
