BNB Hits Record $1,330 While Bitcoin, Ethereum Retreat Amid $650 Million Liquidations

Meme token Dogecoin saw the steepest decline among the top 10 cryptocurrencies, falling 4.3% in the last 24 hours. 

Anthony Pompliano, founder and CEO of Professional Capital Management and a prominent crypto investor, said on Tuesday that Bitcoin (BTC) is emerging as the new “hurdle rate” for investors.“Historically, we’ve looked at things like the S&amp;P 500,” he&nbsp;<a class="st-link-external" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hse-H-JUXGY">told</a> CNBC in an interview. “Since 2020, the S&amp;P is up 100%, but priced to Bitcoin, it’s down 90%.”&nbsp;Pompliano added that most traditional finance returns fail to match Bitcoin’s performance, emphasizing the simplicity and scarcity of Bitcoin as key drivers of its appeal. “They are never going to stop printing money, so Bitcoin will never stop going up. Think of Bitcoin as savings technology: work hard, spend less than you earn, and put the extra into Bitcoin,” he said.&nbsp;<a href="http://stocktwits.com/symbol/BTC.X">Bitcoin’s price</a> was trading at around $125,000 in early morning trade on Tuesday after hitting an all-time high of more than $126,000 during the&nbsp;<a href="https://stocktwits.com/news-articles/markets/cryptocurrency/bitcoin-price-hits-another-record-high-as-it-surges-past-125800/ch6ROvTR3gt">previous session</a>. Bitcoin Climbs Within 1% Of Record High Amid US Government Shutdown Uncertainty

Since the U.S. government shutdown was announced on Wednesday, Bitcoin has gained more than 8%. 

Bitcoin was trading near $120,000 in early trading on Friday, amid a broader market rally.The apex cryptocurrency was up nearly 1% at $119,763, but below the higher peaks scaled on Thursday, according to CoinGecko data. Ethereum and XRP tokens were up 1.6% and 1.8%, respectively. Among other altcoins, BNB was up 4.7% and Solana gained 2.5%.Following a damp September, Bitcoin and other digital currencies are experiencing a strong upward move as investor appetite has grown amid a delay in the release of U.S. jobs data. The Nasdaq and S&amp;P 500 futures were up despite the government shutdown entering its third day, with analysts noting that investors were still giving lawmakers time to resolve their differences.According to the CME Group’s FedWatch tool, futures traders have assigned a 97.8% probability for a 25-basis-point rate cut at the next Federal Open Market Committee meeting, scheduled for later this month.“The U.S. government shutdown is making markets thirsty for risk. Bitcoin Hovers Near $120K — Analyst Says Not ‘Far Away’ From New All-Time Highs

Major cryptocurrencies advanced in the early trading on Tuesday, as spot exchange-traded funds saw strong inflows despite the looming threat of a government shutdown.Bitcoin was up 2.1% at $113,958, Ethereum gained 2.4% to $4,192.96, and XRP was up 0.9% at $2.89 at the time of writing, according to CoinGecko data. Among other tokens, Solana rose 1.2% and BNB increased by 1.7%.According to SoSoValue data, Bitcoin spot ETFs saw net inflows of $521.95 million on Monday, the biggest increase since Sept. 12. While Spot Ethereum ETFs raked in over $546 million, the most since Aug. 14. The figures suggest that institutional investors might be returning to digital assets following the weakness in September.Michael Saylor’s Strategy revealed in a securities filing on Monday that it acquired 196 Bitcoins for $22.1 million at an average price of $113,048 per coin. The latest purchases bolstered the company’s holdings of Bitcoin to over 640,000, representing about 3% of total Bitcoins in circulation. This year’s rally has been partly fueled by several companies launching cryptocurrency treasuries in their bid to emulate the firm.The gains came despite the risk of a U.S. government shutdown on Wednesday, unless the U.S. Congress reaches a deal by the end of the day. "I think we're headed to a shutdown because the Democrats won't do the right thing," Vice President JD Vance told reporters after a meeting at the White House with senior members of Congress. The Democrats are pushing to keep healthcare subsidies for low and middle-income households in the stopgap funding measure.“Expect volatility to stay high in the coming days. The odds of a government shutdown stand around 65%–75%, unless lawmakers manage a last-minute deal.
