$ECHO Isn’t this new SpaceX spectrum purchase good news for Echostar? The remaining spectrum should be of strategic importance to legacy players at this point

$ECHO took another stab at a SOTP post AT&T transaction, paydowns, and dbs ch 11 agreement. Got $186 without incorporating any tax expense on $SPCX gain. Let's just call it $150 per share

$ECHO latest upgrade from jpm JPMorgan issues an overweight rating on the satellite-broadband communication company, writing that it is trading at a “compelling” valuation. The firm previously had a not rated designation on the stock due to a period of restriction “EchoStar shares trade at a 40% discount to our estimated NAV, which we view as unwarranted and as a compelling near-term opportunity,” writes analyst Sebastiano Petti The sale of spectrum to AT&T and SpaceX “has de-risked the balance sheet and transformed EchoStar into an investment company with meaningful further opportunities to unlock value, including upside to the SpaceX share price, additional spectrum monetization, and a sooner-than-expected commencement of share repurchases” PT set to $144, implies a 66% increase from last price

$ECHO JPMorgan relaunched coverage Friday at Overweight, 144 dollar target for December 2027. Last December the firm had the equivalent of a sell rating on it, 12 dollar target. EchoStar is set to get 261.8 million SpaceX shares plus 8.5 billion dollars in cash for about 20 billion dollars of spectrum, a deal expected to close in late 2027. JPMorgan values that stake at 38.9 billion dollars today, 62.8 billion at its own 240 dollar SpaceX target. EchoStar's whole market cap is about 24.7 billion dollars. JPMorgan puts the shares at about a 40% discount to its net asset value estimate. The stock still faded Friday, up 2.7% premarket and down 1.7% by the close at 85.37 dollars.

J.P. Morgan sees up to 67% upside in EchoStar, arguing that investors are undervaluing its future SpaceX stake and the potential for additional spectrum deals. Analyst Sebastiano Petti believes EchoStar offers an indirect way to benefit from SpaceX’s growth, with the market not fully accounting for the value of the shares the satellite-communications company is expected to receive. EchoStar plans to sell approximately $20 billion in spectrum licenses to SpaceX in a transaction expected to close in late 2027, subject to regulatory approval. In exchange, EchoStar would receive about $8.5 billion in cash and 261.8 million SpaceX shares, giving it a significant future equity stake in the company. The deal could substantially reshape EchoStar’s valuation as investors increasingly focus on its spectrum assets and SpaceX exposure rather than its existing operations. $ECHO $SPCX $JPM
