AEye (NASDAQ:LIDR) is taking its lidar technology somewhere considerably more ambitious than the highway: the Moon. The company announced that its Apollo long-range lidar has been selected by Lunar Outpost for integration onto the Pegasus Lunar Terrain Vehicle, the rover NASA selected in 2026 to support Artemis astronauts at the lunar South Pole. The multi-million-dollar commercial engagement marks AEye’s entry into the space-mobility market and potentially gives the small-cap lidar developer exposure to a new category tied to the long-term buildout of lunar infrastructure. Lunar Outpost says Pegasus is scheduled to launch in 2028 and is intended to support exploration, science, resource prospecting and site preparation.
