It employs the Scrypt algorithm to ensure the mining process remains fast and efficient, with new blocks processed every 60 seconds. A unique technical feature is its use of merged mining, allowing miners to secure Dogecoin simultaneously with other Scrypt-based networks like Litecoin.  To keep transaction fees low and the network running indefinitely, Dogecoin features an uncapped supply where new coins are added forever. In a major regulatory milestone in March 2026, a joint SEC and CFTC framework officially classified Dogecoin as a digital commodity, placing it in the same asset category as gold or oil.

Key features include a built-in distributed exchange for trading assets without intermediaries and the Soroban platform for developing smart contracts. Users can also utilize the network for tokenizing real-world assets or accessing decentralized finance services like peer-to-peer lending.  Stellar's native token, XLM, is essential for maintaining network integrity by acting as an intermediary to find efficient exchange paths and preventing spam through small transaction fees and minimum account balance requirements. Unlike many other digital assets, the network has no inflation because the community voted to disable the automatic creation of new tokens. While the project received early funding from the payments company Stripe, it is now sustained by a global community of validators and developers rather than traditional venture capital.

Unlike many venture-backed projects, it is maintained by a decentralized community of independent developers and a global network of miners. BONK is available across 10 blockchain networks and listed on major exchanges including Binance, Coinbase, Kraken, and Robinhood. Governance is handled by BonkDAO, which holds 15% of the token supply and makes decisions through on-chain voting.   The community has organized several major burn events, most notably the December 2024 BURNmas campaign that destroyed 1.69 trillion tokens worth over $50 million. In September 2025, Nasdaq-listed Safety Shot, Inc. formed BONK Holdings LLC and acquired over 2.5% of the circulating supply (valued at $55-63 million), making BONK one of the first memecoins to attract formal corporate treasury adoption. Despite these risks, Bonk has established itself as one of the most successful community-driven tokens in the Solana ecosystem, approaching 1 million unique holders and expanding from a simple memecoin into meaningful DeFi infrastructure.
