Spot gold (XAU/USD) rose 0.35% to $4,205.5 per ounce, while February 2026 futures gained 0.35% to $4,232 an ounce.The CME FedWatch tool now shows an 87.4% chance of a 25-bps reduction in the key rate, slightly lower than last week’s reading of 88%.Lower rates tend to weaken the U.S. dollar and reduce the appeal of interest-bearing assets, making non-yielding metals like gold more attractive to investors.<h2 class="st-heading-2">How Did Stocktwits Users React?</h2>The <a href="https://stocktwits.com/symbol/SLV">iShares Silver Trust</a> ETF, which tracks silver, was up 3.7% and trending on Stocktwits. Lower interest rates tend to favour non-yielding assets such as gold.<h2 class="st-heading-2">U.S. Macro Data</h2>Recent U.S. economic data have offered mixed cues. The core personal consumption expenditures (PCE) inflation gauge met expectations, consumer sentiment improved, and jobless claims fell to over three-year lows, even as private payrolls recorded their sharpest drop in more than two years.<h2 class="st-heading-2">Silver Close To Record Highs</h2>Silver, meanwhile, extended its strong run. Spot prices (XAG/USD) rose 0.7% to $58.55 per ounce, hovering just below the record high of $59.34 reached last week.&nbsp;Analysts attribute the surge in prices to tight physical supply and depleted inventories due to high demand from industrial sectors. Silver has nearly doubled in value this year, outpacing gold’s almost 60% gains.<h2 class="st-heading-2">Greenback And Copper Watch</h2>The U.S. Dollar Index (DXY) was down marginally at 99.05. The&nbsp;<a href="https://stocktwits.com/symbol/DXY">DXY</a> measures the greenback’s strength against a basket of six key currencies: the euro, Japanese yen, pound sterling, Canadian dollar, Swedish krona, and Swiss franc.Copper prices have also seen substantial gains this year, with the metal hitting a record high of $11,771 per ton on the London Metal Exchange on Monday. It was down 1.2% on Tuesday.Meanwhile, the&nbsp;<a href="https://stocktwits.com/symbol/GLD">SPDR Gold Shares ETF</a> (GLD) was up 0.31% at the time of writing, while the&nbsp;<a href="https://stocktwits.com/symbol/IAU">iShares Gold Trust ETF</a> (IAU) gained 0.28%.
