The company's strategic focus on data center growth and AI infrastructure spending was a key theme, supported by a recent Q3 guidance raise and an expanded manufacturing agreement for AI chip production. What’s up with $SMTC after that Analyst Day drop? $SMTC Semtech raised its Q3 outlook at Thursday's analyst day, revenue to 417.5 million at the midpoint, up 56% year over year, adjusted EPS 1.14. The stock still closed down 10% at 144.21. Data center revenue is guided to more than double two years running, 475 million in fiscal 27 to 1 billion in fiscal 28, with total revenue reaching 3.2 billion by fiscal 30. The selloff was about growth slowing after that stretch. StoneX pushed back this morning, Buy reiterated with a 230 target, and pointed to the data center connectivity market growing from 3 billion to 15 billion over four years. Shares were up 4.4% premarket to 150.50.

$SMTC I'm a professional investor. However, none of you are clients so do your own research and invest as you see fit. $SMTC crashed hard at about 12:30 PM. If you look at their direct competitior, MACOM over at $MTSI , they also crashed at almost the EXACT same time. Someone heard something that was very bad at the analyst day. The specific panel that the schedule fits for the drop was "industry outlook". It was a large drop in volume in BOTH companies and they're the only two main players in the space. The largest anyway. When you look at the scattered buying and selling afterwards, with high gaps between bars, and the bars being short themselves, it tells you someone knows something. And it's bad. They didn't like it. Professional analysts didn't like it. At all. I've scoured the web the last 3 hours trying to find what they heard but it's not public info until after 4 PM in about 20 minutes. I'm shorting this based on that dynamic.

$SMTC SMTC is getting hit, near 144.03, down about 10.27 percent. It looks like part of the chip sell off tied to worries about higher rates and how they could pressure the sector's big spending plans. That's my read, and I can't confirm it's the only driver. The move is a big one even for a volatile name. SMTC closed at 187.30 on October 9, so it has dropped roughly 23 percent in about four sessions, and it's about 29 percent below the 201.99 high it hit earlier this month. For perspective, it's still up roughly 95 percent this year, which is why the pullback is hitting so hard. I'd watch whether the broader chip group stabilizes. Follow me for more on the chip names.
