$VLO $MPC Was expecting a much larger smack down today than we got. I've noticed whenever Valero hits or exceeds $400, a rumor of a peace deal comes out within a day or two. This drives down the price ~5-10%. Monday/Tuesday peace deal rumor may be incoming.

$VLO we're green today whereas crude is red. That should tell us something. High gas prices are established and solid, reset, and here to stay. So are defensive names like $WMT

$VLO Earnings in the morning. Little price change this week, but relatively large intraday swings. Down from $460 8 days ago, going below $430 presented a few good entry points. We'll see if someone took the opportunity to accumulate before earnings. This'll probably set the tone for $PSX , $MPC , and others, since there'll be oil and gas earnings over the next couple of weeks. They have a low bar to beat for revenue guidance, 5% lower than last quarter. That's probably priced in, so the question is whether they beat guidance by a little, or a LOT.

$VLO This has more room to grow!! Many think it's frothy and overdone. But the fact is, the forward p/e ratio is only 10. The historic forward p/e ratio ranged from 13 to 17!!! The company's profits are growing so fast the stock is still considered cheap. I own a few shares.

$VLO Q3 was a record again. Adjusted EPS came in at 23.90 dollars vs 21.07 dollars expected (LSEG), and net income was 6.8 billion dollars vs 1.1 billion a year ago. Refining margin did the work, 39.24 dollars a barrel vs 13.14 dollars a year ago. Refining operating income was 8.8 billion dollars, up from 1.7 billion. Stock is down about 3 percent today anyway, pretty much a sell the news reaction to a crack spread story everyone already knew.

$VLO Earnings Thursday morning. This thing is down a lot more than other energy stocks, and much more than other refiners $MPC and $PSX. I don't see any material news, so people positioning for earnings is my best guess at the downswing today. This week'll be volatile.

$VLO Russia diesel deal is virtually meaningless. The entire reported 4.8-million-tonne package represents only about one week of U.S. diesel consumption.

your screen was a sea of red friday and oil was the only thing climbing. Brent closed at $116.72, its highest close since april, while the S&P energy sector punched to a record high and the rest of the market slumped. Goldman's commodity desk says about 27 dollars of every barrel is pure fear, not fundamentals. Refiners are grabbing barrels now because they see a sharp supply drop coming as Houthi strikes hit Saudi infrastructure and Gulf shipping. $VLO so you tell me. You spent the week arguing about whether tech is oversold while the one sector with an actual bid is the one nobody wanted to own all year. Fear is doing the buying here. How fast do you think it sells?
