Vishay ran about 11% in the session Friday, roughly double its closest analog peers (Alphastreet: COHR +3.8%, LFUS +3.6%, BDC +3.1%, KN +3.0%).
Two explanations are floating around. The company-side one: Vishay released four new power modules built on 650V superjunction MOSFETs in standard SOT-227 packaging. Single-switch ratings of 50A, 100A, and 150A, plus a 50A low-side chopper with a 650V silicon carbide diode. The target is solar inverters, charging stations, and medical imaging.
The other: September payrolls came in at 29K vs 84K expected, and the whole growth complex re-rated on lower rate expectations.
The tell is the peer row. When four comparable names jump on the same day, the common factor is usually the macro. These modules are drop-in replacements that spare customers a PCB redesign. Evolutionary, not a platform shift.
Vishay's extra move reads more like cyclicality amplifying the sector bid than the market repricing four power modules.
