The cryptocurrency then took off with the innovation of the turing-complete smart contract by Ethereum which led to the development of other amazing projects such as EOS, Tron, and even crypto-collectibles such as CryptoKitties.

Jefferies, Zions, Western Alliance Stocks Hit By Credit Risk Concerns

The recent developments come amid broader concerns about the quality of bank loan portfolios and the potential for more borrowers to default or misrepresent collateral.

Larry Fink-led BlackRock (BLK) announced Thursday an overhaul of its BlackRock Select Treasury Based Liquidity Fund (BSTBL) to align the money market fund with the requirements of the GENIUS Act.The strategic move enables the fund to serve as a reserve asset for payment stablecoin issuers. This means stablecoins backed by this fund would be considered safer and fully compliant with U.S. regulations.&nbsp;The investment firm also said the fund will now include overnight repurchase agreements and shorter-term U.S. Treasuries, while removing agency securities. This means that the fund can quickly meet redemption demands – crucial for stablecoins, which need liquid, low-risk assets to ensure users can redeem tokens at any time.In addition, BlackRock extended the fund’s trading window to 5:00 p.m. ET, up from the previous 2:30 p.m. cutoff. The extended hours provide stablecoin issuers with more flexibility to manage reserves and respond to market activity during business hours.Despite the announcement,&nbsp;<a href="http://stocktwits.com/symbol/BLK">BlackRock’s stock</a> edged 0.4% lower in morning trade. BlackRock Overhauls Money Market Fund To Serve As Stablecoin Reserve Asset

S&amp;P Global (SPGI) said Tuesday that its credit ratings division will deliver Stablecoin Stability Assessments on-chain through a new collaboration with Chainlink (LINK).The initiative will make S&amp;P Global Ratings’ assessments, which are evaluations of stablecoins’ ability to maintain value relative to fiat currencies, available directly within decentralized finance (DeFi) protocols via Chainlink’s DataLink service. Blackrock (BLK) CEO Larry Fink said on Tuesday that the investment giant is actively developing in-house technology to advance the tokenization of traditional assets.“We’re spending a great deal of time on trying to develop our own technology related to this,” Fink said during the company’s third quarter (Q3) earnings call. “I mean it is our belief that we need to move rapidly, not just financial assets, but we need to be tokenizing all assets, especially assets that have multiple levels of intermediaries.”<a href="http://stocktwits.com/symbol/BLK">Blackrock’s stock</a> gained 1.2% in midday trade on Tuesday after the company reported earnings of $11.55 per share on revenue of $6.51 billion. Analysts were expecting earnings per share (EPS) of $11.30 and revenue of around $6.27 billion, according to Stocktwits data. Retail sentiment around the company on the platform surged higher within ‘extremely bullish’ territory, accompanied by ‘high’ levels of chatter over the past day.&nbsp;Fink described tokenization as “probably one of the most exciting potential markets for BlackRock.” He outlined a vision in which investors could hold all their money in a digital wallet, seamlessly buying stocks, bonds, and other traditional assets.“If we could orchestrate a business plan around tokenization of ETFs… we can introduce young investors to more traditional assets sooner in their life path,” Fink said, citing survey data showing strong equity interest among younger demographics.Blackrock reported a record $13.5 trillion assets under management (AUM) in Q3, up from $11.43 trillion in the year-ago quarter. Goldman Sachs stock (GS) edged lower in early premarket trading on Tuesday ahead of the scheduled release of the bank’s quarterly earnings report.On Monday, after the markets closed, Goldman said it will buy venture capital firm Industry Ventures, which currently manages $7 billion of assets under supervision (AUS). The firm has one of the largest portfolios of venture capital partnerships from the seed stage to the late-stage growth stage in the United States, Goldman said.“Industry Ventures pioneered venture secondary investing and early-stage hybrid funds, areas that are rapidly expanding as companies stay private longer and investors seek new forms of liquidity,” said David Solomon, Goldman’s CEO.Industry Ventures will sit inside Goldman’s external manager platform, the External Investing Group (XIG), which has over $450 billion in AUS, the bank noted. The lender has topped quarterly profit estimates in all four previous quarters.Earlier this month, Mizuho analysts noted that the bank has robust operating leverage and is positioned to benefit from the recovery in capital markets.Dealmaking has rebounded this year, as the Trump administration has adopted a more favorable approach to mergers. The third quarter was also the busiest three-month period this year for new listings, as more firms went public amid soaring stock market and rate hike bets. According to Dealogic data, U.S. mergers and acquisitions reached $665.6 billion in the third quarter of 2024, far exceeding the $403.1 billion in the same period last year.Additionally, the volatility caused by the uncertain policies of the Trump administration is also expected to bolster Goldman’s earnings.“Trading operations have capitalized on market volatility, particularly in fixed income and currencies.
