The U.S. Food and Drug Administration indicated that a single Phase 3 trial of QRX003 could be enough to support approval in the U.S.

Quoin Pharmaceuticals (NASDAQ:QNRX) reported a key regulatory milestone following a constructive Type C meeting with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), potentially accelerating the development path for its lead candidate, QRX003, in the treatment of Netherton Syndrome, a rare and underserved genetic skin disorder.

A rapamycin loading concentration of 4% w/w has been achieved for Quoin’s topical formulation, while an even higher concentration of 5% w/w has been formulated in a dermal patch system, the company said.

Quoin said that the purchase agreement also includes an initial upfront funding of $16.5 million and up to an additional $88 million upon the potential cash exercise of accompanying warrants at the election of the investors.
