$RTX no reason to buy this until after the elections. I expect it to take a huge dump with the results.

The U.S. Department of Defense awarded Raytheon a $34.36 million contract to support the V-22 Tactical Software System, according to a Monday announcement. The cost-plus-fixed-fee order was issued under a 2025 basic ordering agreement and covers engineering, management, technical and procurement support aimed at maintaining the operational availability of the V-22 fleet for the U.S. Air Force, Marine Corps and Navy. Work will be performed at Raytheon’s facility in Indianapolis, Indiana, with completion expected in August 2028. The contract will be funded through multiple fiscal-year appropriations, with the largest portion coming from FY2026 aircraft procurement, research and development, and operations and maintenance accounts across the Air Force and Navy. Additional funding includes smaller FY2025 aircraft procurement and defense procurement allocations. Naval Air Systems Command in Patuxent River, Maryland, awarded the order without competitive bidding. $RTX

Defense stocks like $RTX can serve as an effective portfolio hedge when holding common stock instead of dealing with wide option spreads.

$RTX A 24.4 billion contract no longer moves the stock. Thursday's multi-year award for SM-6 interceptors (aircraft, ballistic missiles, enemy targets) is one of the biggest missile deals of the year. Friday morning RTX was off about half a percent at 184. The stock is down roughly 9 percent since the Iran war started in late February. The defense ETF is down 15 percent. The S&P is up 11. The de-rating is not about order flow. Per Barron's, investors worry defense spending growth decelerates on budget pressure and House-midterm gridlock. RBC's Ken Herbert made the math clean on Northrop: cut to Hold, target 525 from 640, at 16 times forward earnings, the lowest multiple of the past year. His new frame is 17 times, not 21. One counter-voice: Citi's John Godyn thinks defense catches a bid once the election outcome is known. The order books are full. It's the funding the market is pricing.

$RTX wins a multiyear contract worth up to $24.4B to produce Standard Missile-6 interceptors for the US Navy, as the Pentagon pushes to replenish munitions stockpiles depleted by conflicts in the Middle East. The 5-year contract, which includes 2 additional option years, is meant to provide a steady & reliable supply of the SM-6, a missile that can carry out both offensive strikes & missile defense missions The SM-6 award is the latest in a series of large munitions contracts the Pentagon has pursued this year to pressure contractors into ramping up output. It follows a $20.7B provisional multiyear deal for Raytheon’s AMRAAM air-to-air missiles in late Sept & a $58.6B Patriot interceptor deal awarded to $LMT in July Industry execs have warned that Congress has not yet appropriated funding for the deals, meaning contractors may be unable to invest at scale in components & facilities until lawmakers act.

$RTX RTX reports Q3 Tuesday before the open. Consensus is 1.78 dollars of EPS on 24.01 billion dollars of revenue, both up mid single digits from a year ago (Zacks). The bar is higher than that, though. RTX has beaten in each of the last four quarters, average surprise 14.21%, and full-year consensus already sits at 7.25 dollars, the top of the 7.10 to 7.25 guide it raised in July. Backlog was 289 billion dollars at the end of Q2. A plain beat probably is not enough here, it likely takes another guide lift.

$RTX why down on war news following a bunch of contract awards? I would think escalating conflict is good for business.
