PLUG IS UNDERVALUED AND IMPROVING
A recent Simply Wall St article suggests that Plug Power may be 84% overvalued because its 2.8× price-to-sales ratio exceeds the 1.7× average for electrical industrial companies. However, that comparison uses the wrong peer group. Plug should be compared with hydrogen companies such as FuelCell Energy and Bloom Energy; against those peers, Plug appears significantly undervalued.
Other negative articles criticize Plug’s failure to reduce GAAP operating expenses. However, GAAP figures obscure the progress made over the past eight quarters and provide limited insight into the company’s path to breakeven. Core Operating Expense is a more useful measure. Plug’s COE for the past four quarters was:
1. Q3/25…..$127M
2. Q4/25…..$112M
3. Q1/26…..$82 M
4. Q/226…..$42 M ($78M adjusted)
The negative articles about Plug use very misleading data. Plug is undervalued and improving!
